A Special letter from our president to our members with Important reminders

Hal,
I would like remind everybody that we will be having club display tables this year. We have set aside two six foot tables for this. These tables will be located in the painting competition area. We intend the use of these tables as a method show the general public all the various interests of our club. I feel this could be a very good tool to peek the interest of potential new members. After all, this is one of our primary reasons for having this show. We use the term 'Toy Soldier' in our club name. This term is used as a general name to describe a wide range of figures: A toy soldier is a miniature figurine that represents a soldier. The term applies to depictions of uniformed military personnel from all eras, and includes knights, cowboys, pirates, and other subjects that involve combat-related themes. Toy soldiers vary from simple playthings to highly realistic and detailed models. The latter are of more recent development and are sometimes called model figures to distinguish them from traditional toy soldiers. Larger scale toys such as dolls and action figures may come in military uniforms. Toy soldiers are made from all types of material, but the most common mass produced varieties are metal and plastic. There are many different kinds of toy soldiers, including tin soldiers or flats, hollow cast metal figures, composition figures, and plastic army men. Our club interests within the 'Toy Soldier' heading are wide and varied. We have collectors, mold makers, figure painters and dealers in our group. As you know, many of our members also have other interests outside of this, such as trains and model building. Any one of these areas may get a new person interested in joining our ranks. I myself was aware of the club for several years before I heard that figure painting was one of its interests. I would appreciate it very much in having all the club members participate in this endeavor. If you plan on attending the show, please bring something to fill these tables. Or make arrangements with a fellow club member to bring something to represent your interests. While unattended, these tables will be monitored by the painting competition group. As a frequent convention attendee, I always find it unappealing when I come across empty table spaces. Due to the dealer demand; we have expanded into the halls adjoining room. However, not all these spaces have been sold yet. So, I would like to spread the displays out if we have any unsold tables. This way there will be no empty spots. Thanx Mike
